When I first met the grandmother of one of my closest friends, I knew I had to share an act of kindness towards her. She is truly the definition of a God-fearing, strong, kind, and loving woman. After every interaction, she made me want to extend our conversations beyond just morning talks over coffee. In one of our talks she mentioned that although she is actively trying to adapt to technology and learn how to communicate online in this day and age, she misses the era of writing letters so deeply. Writing letters to her meant so much more. I knew in that moment that I needed to remind her that although things are always changing in our world, being a kind-hearted person is timeless.
I chose to send her hand-written letters for the next year. In each letter that I received back from her, she was more thankful than the one before and I know that my one kind act made an impact of a lifetime.
