This was not something I did, but something I witnessed. It was simple, but caught me so off guard that I will remember it for a while. We were just getting home from a cruise, sitting in a line to get through “customs”, the lady in front of me was chatting with one of the security people as the lines snaked around, there was an opportunity to chat for a little bit. You could tell this security woman was not having a very nice day, whatever the circumstances, you could tell she could use a little cheering up. The woman in front of me noticed. She had a cute hat she had taken on her trip that she was carrying with her, the security woman commented on how cute the hat was, and without a second thought, the woman in front of me just said “Here, it’s yours!” just like that! The security woman was flabbergasted but you could also tell her eyes lit up. It was out of the ordinary, but you could tell it was so appreciated. What a kind little act to witness!
